The EDGE Consortium: education group for growth in engineering
We are presidents and deans of the nation’s leading research universities and schools of engineering, working collaboratively to transform semiconductor-related education to be more open to and aligned with industry workforce needs. The EDGE Consortium recognizes that the goals of the CHIPS and Science Act – to boost US competitiveness, innovation, and national security in the global semiconductor landscape – won’t be achieved unless we grow the engineering workforce significantly and soon, so we are committed to doubling the engineering workforce for semiconductor-related careers by the end of the decade.
The CHIPS and Science Act can only deliver on its promise to strengthen the US semiconductor industry by significantly growing the engineering workforce. The EDGE Consortium knows that there’s room for everyone in STEM, and we commit to making sure the career pathways needed to get there — no matter where you’re starting from — are within reach.
